Top Tips for Better Bird Scaring

Use the Vari Scary in combination with the Eye-Scare for both audible and visual bird deterrent.

A salvo of multiple bangs with the Vari Scary can be more effective to get birds flying and out of the crop. It often takes up to 15 minutes for birds to regroup and start to land back in the crop, when a further salvo may help to keep them moving.

The infinitely variable combination of bangs and salvos in any 30 minute time sector means the Vari Scary can be tailored more effectively to bird flying patterns than other gas guns with longer time slots.

Concentrate efforts under pest flight lines and at times of greatest pest movement; consider increasing the frequency of shots and salvos during periods of peak activity.

The lightweight and easily portable Vari Scary means that it can be regularly moved around the field and quickly located in hot-spots of pest activity.

Eye-Scares are recommended to be used in sets of three per field, set in a triangular pattern up to 150m apart. Eye-Scares should be moved around on a weekly basis.

If a number of Eye-Scares are used in the field along with the Vari Scary, regularly move the Vari Scary alongside different Eye-Scares to enhance the efficacy of both deterrents.

Regular shooting, along with the use of the Vari Scary increases the physical danger to pests and maintains the deterrent effects for longer.
